Ewing Township man arrested for shoplifting using app-based delivery service

A Ewing Township man who worked for Shipt, which is an app-based delivery service, has been charged with shoplifting for allegedly taking more than $2,200 worth of merchandise from Target at 500 Nassau Park Boulevard, according to the West Windsor Police Department.

The app-based delivery service allows a customer to make an online purchase from a merchant through the app, police said. A Shipt employee goes to the store, checks in with customer service and picks up the items from the store shelf. The employee delivers the items to the customer.

The man went to Target and selected the items that were on the customer’s list, and then allegedly took additional items that were not on the customer’s list and left the store without paying for them on six separate occasions between Sept. 14 and Oct. 23, police said.

The man was arrested Oct. 25, when he returned to Target for a seventh time, police said.

He was released, pending a future court date in Mercer County Superior Court.
