Deborah Linthorst will continue to lead the Hopewell Valley Regional Board of Education as president after being nominated and elected by members of the school board.

Nominated by Andrea Driver, Linthorst was re-elected president for 2022 at the school board’s annual reorganization meeting, which took place on Jan. 3.

“I want to say thank you to my fellow board members for putting your trust in me this year to serve as president. I really appreciate your faith and trust,” she said. “I really look forward to working with you in the year to come and with Jess as vice president.”

Following the election of president, school board members nominated and re-elected Jessica Grillo to serve as vice president of the board for the 2022 year.

Prior to the elections of president and vice president, the school district swore in two newly elected school board members at the reorganization meeting, Jacquie Genovesi and Alexander Reznik. Also sworn in was Linthorst, who is the one returning member to the board from the 2021 election.

Genovesi and Linthorst represent Hopewell Township on the school board. The general election race in November 2021 featured Genovesi, Linthorst and Kimberly Stolow for two three-year terms to represent Hopewell Township on the Board of Education.

Genovesi received 3,535 votes, Linthorst earned 3,210 votes, and Stolow secured 2,970 votes.

Reznik represents Pennington in its sole seat on the board. The race was uncontested for Reznik, who received 745 votes in the general election.

The nine-member Board of Education currently consists of President Debbie Linthorst (Hopewell Township), Vice President Jess Grillo (Hopewell Borough), Andrea Driver (Hopewell Township), Jacquie Genovesi (Hopewell Township), Bill Herbert (Hopewell Township), John Mason (Hopewell Township), Alexander Reznik (Pennington), Adam Sawicki (Hopewell Township), and Anita Williams Galiano (Hopewell Township).
