Icy conditions cause traffic accidents in North, South Brunswick

The South Brunswick Police Department is currently handling multiple crashes and vehicles off the roadway.

South Brunswick Public Works and Middlesex County are continuing to salt roadways, which remain hazardous, according to information provided at 9 a.m. Jan. 5.

Since 6:08 a.m., officers have handled 33 reports of crashes and many additional vehicle assists throughout South Brunswick, according to information provided by the South Brunswick Police Department.

Promenade Boulevard remains closed, but other roadways have been reopened.

Police advise that if travel is not necessary, wait for roadway conditions to improve before going out.

The South Brunswick Municipal Building will not open until 10:30 a.m. today.

The North Brunswick Office of Emergency Management urges residents to use extreme caution while driving or delay your morning commute, if possible, due to the hazardous road conditions, according to information released the morning of Jan. 5.

Numerous accidents have been reported throughout the township.
