SOUTH RIVER – Members of the South River Borough Council have introduced bond ordinance 22-09, which appropriates more than $1.1 million to fund various improvements throughout the borough.

During a Feb. 28 meeting, Council President Tony Ciulla and Council Members Donna Balazs, Jason Oliveira, Peter Guindi, James Gurchensky and Julie Meira voted “yes” on a motion to introduce the ordinance.

The total appropriation of the $1,110,00 includes $619,500 of bonds, $457,410 in grants from the New Jersey Department of Transportation, and a $33,090 down payment.

Chief Financial Officer Joe Zanga said, “The ordinance relates to various road improvements in the borough, library HVAC replacement and police department-conducted energy devices and 911 upgrades.”

On March 21 at 7 p.m., the council is scheduled to meet for a public hearing and will hold a vote for or against adopting the ordinance.

According to the agenda, the meeting will either be conducted at the Criminal Justice Building on 61 Main St. or remotely via Zoom.
