According to the press release, Cascone was most recently the superintendent of the West Orange Public Schools, where he successfully led a 42-member team, managed a $180 million operating budget in a district with 11 schools, 1,300 employees and 6,800 students.

Prior to his tenure in West Orange, he served as the executive director of academics for the Old Bridge Township Public Schools and he was a high school principal in the Westwood Regional School District.

“Today, we begin a new chapter in the history of the Holmdel school district as we
welcome our new superintendent, Dr. Scott Cascone,” said Elizabeth Urbanski,
president of the Board of Education.

“Over the last two-and-a-half months, Dr. Cascone began to lay the groundwork for a successful tenure, as he has already been meeting and building relationships with members of our administration, staff, parents and students.

“This is an exciting time for Holmdel public schools and we are looking forward to continuing to improve upon the excellent educational opportunities we offer students under Dr. Cascone’s leadership.

“On behalf of our entire district, I would also like to recognize and thank Arthur Howard for
stepping in and doing an outstanding job serving as acting superintendent during this
transition period.

“Mr. Howard has distinguished himself as a talented school administrator and we are lucky to have him as the principal at the Village School and as a valued member of the Holmdel school community,” Urbanski said.

The Holmdel school district is comprised of four schools: the Village School (P-3), the Indian Hill School (4-6), the W.R. Satz School (7-8) and Holmdel High School (9-12). The district has an enrollment of about 3,000 students.
