Hopewell police blotter

A Buckingham Drive resident lost more than $10,000 to a person who pretended to be an Amazon employee and gained access to the victim’s computer. The would-be Amazon employee withdrew money from the victim’s bank account in the incident, which was reported April 21.

A Pennington-Hopewell Road resident nearly became the victim of a scam after receiving an alert on the computer reporting a security concern. The resident called the number for the security concern and was told to purchase gift cards in exchange for help. The gift cards were never purchased. The incident was reported April 21.

A 38-year-old Ringoes man was charged with driving under the influence and assault by auto following a two-car crash on Route 31 North April 26. During the investigation, he was discovered to have been driving while under the influence. The passengers in the other car suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital for evaluation. The driver was taken to the Hopewell Township Police Department to be processed and then released.
