Representatives of Princeton Community Housing (PCH) gathered with PCH Trustees, supporters and members of the community to kick off the public phase of their Home Means Hope Campaign, raising $2 million to build 25 new affordable homes in Princeton.

Speakers at the event at Mountain Lakes House in Princeton on May 13 included PCH’s Executive Director Ed Truscelli and Development and Communications Manager Cassie Jaeger.

Truscelli and Jaeger thanked PCH’s donors for a total of $1.8 million raised thus far during the quiet phase of the campaign, according to a prepared statement.

In addition, they announced that an anonymous donor will be matching gifts dollar for dollar, up to $115,000 to help PCH achieve its $2 million goal.

Truscelli also thanked the Municipality of Princeton, which has provided $2.1 million of funding to help realize the new homes and satisfy Princeton’s affordable housing obligation, according to the statement.

When completed, the new three-story building at Princeton Community Village (PCV) – an existing PCH community – will have a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments for very low-, low-, and moderate-income households. It will include a large covered porch and a new neighborhood pavilion for socializing, and new walkways to provide easy access to the existing Ted Vial Clubhouse.

The building is designed to meet or exceed Enterprise Green energy efficiency standards and includes all-electric heating/cooling and capacity for future installation of rooftop solar panels, according to the statement.

The construction also includes neighborhood enhancements. PCH will be making improvements to the clubhouse, and adding electric vehicle charging stations, bicycle racks, a package pickup center, underground stormwater management, as well as an abundance of native landscaping including trees, shrubs, and rain garden plants.
