South Brunswick Mayor Charlie Carley thanked the EMS community for all they do as part of the National EMS Week celebration in town.

“This is National EMS Week and we are so thankful to all the members of the Kendall Park First Aid and Rescue Squad, Monmouth Junction First Aid Squad, and South Brunswick EMS for all they do every day. These men and women answer the call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Their work saves lives and makes a difference every day.

“Our EMS answered 4,600 medical calls last year. Their tireless efforts and dedication have made us the great community we are and we are forever grateful,” Carley said at a ceremony on May 16, according to a prepared statement.

As part of the weeklong celebration, Greenbrook Elementary, Monmouth Junction Elementary, Noor Ul Iman School and St. Augustine of Canterbury School had students write letters of thanks to the EMS members.

National EMS Week was established in 1974 by President Gerald Ford to celebrate EMS practitioners and the important work they do. This year EMS week is celebrated May 15-21, 2022.
