Hopewell Valley commemorates the fallen with Memorial Day ceremonies, parades

Hopewell Valley was one of many areas across the state honoring service members who have fallen while serving in America’s armed forces.

The Hopewell Valley Veterans Association held their annual Memorial Day ceremony at Hopewell Township’s Woolsey Park on May 28.

Hopewell Baptist Meeting House Cemetery, which contains graves of Civil War and Revolutionary veterans on West Broad Street in Hopewell Borough, held a ceremony on May 29.

Hopewell Borough also held its Memorial Day parade the same day.

When Memorial Day arrived on May 30, Pennington hosted its annual Memorial Day parade.

Memorial Day was originally called Decoration Day. The annual national holiday is designed to remember service members of America’s armed forces who died while serving the country.
