HILLSBOROUGH – Two new faces will run for the one open spot on the Hillsborough Township Committee this fall.
Democrat Ronald Yoder and Republican John Ciccarelli both won their respective primaries in an uncontested election on June 7.
Yoder received a total of 1,488 votes, while Ciccarelli tallied 1,447 votes.
Each candidate will now run for a three-year term on the township committee during the general election on Nov. 8.
Committeeman Frank DelCore announced earlier this year that he will not be running for reelection this fall.
This is the first time that Yoder will be running for office. The 68-year-old currently works as an Agent Emeritus at MassMutual.
Yoder said he has experience working with various organizations in Hillsborough and around Somerset County.
He previously held the positions of executive secretary and trustee as a volunteer firefighter for the Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Company No. 3. Yoder still volunteers at the fire company and holds the position of sergeant at arms.
For 25 years, Yoder has been a member of the Somerset County Business Partnership, including serving 13 years as the organization’s membership ambassador.
Yoder is also a member of the Hillsborough Economic Development Committee and founded the Hillsborough chapter of the Business Networking International. He holds a degree in history and economics from the University of New Mexico.
Ciccarelli was endorsed by the Hillsborough Township Republican Committee this spring.
The licensed professional engineer has been a resident of Hillsborough since 1999 and currently holds the position of director in the Construction Advisory Services Group at J.S. Held LLC.
Ciccarelli has served on the Hillsborough Township Planning Board since 2020.

As a husband, father, and former president and current board member of the Hillsborough Soccer Club, I want to ensure that Hillsborough stays one of the best towns in America.”
