Jamesburg woman charged with allegedly killing her newborn daughter

JAMESBURG – A 19-year-old borough woman has been charged with allegedly killing her newborn daughter, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Jamesburg Police Chief James Craparotta.

Police were called to make a welfare check on a woman at approximately 10:15 p.m. on June 8, according to a press release through the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office on June 10.

The woman and her newborn were transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, according to the press release.

An initial investigation by Sgt. Jason Muller of the Jamesburg Police Department and Detective Ryan Tighe of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office determined the woman gave birth to the infant earlier in the day, according to the press release.

The woman has been charged with one count of first-degree aggravated manslaughter, one count of second-degree desecration of human remains and one count of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, according to the press release.

She was processed and transported to the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center in North Brunswick pending a detention hearing.
