METUCHEN – Breakdancers took to Metuchen Town Plaza showcasing their best moves during Downtown Metuchen Alliance’s second annual breakdancing event.
The event was presented by Pro Breaking Tour, UDEF, the nonprofit entity for competitive breaking, and Kids Breaking League in New York.
Councilman Joel Branch introduced the performers in front of the young crowd on June 11.
With breakdancing making its debut at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris, organizers said it’s an exciting time for the artistic sport.
Dynamic Kids, 6 Steps Before the Lord & The Dynamic Poppers opened with a performance.
Afterward members of the public were able to learn during a free instructional class on the basics of breaking.
The event ended with exhibition battles – “Saigon [NBK/NJ] versus Mouse [Dynamic Rockers/BK] and Rich NYCE [True Aggressions/NJ] versus Indio [Dynamic Rockers/BX].”
At the event, customized, air brush graffiti T-shirts and hats were available from artist GTArtland.
