SAYREVILLE – The Sayreville School District has a new director of food services.
The Board of Education approved the appointment of Nicholas Cittadino as the director of food services for the 2022-23 school year at a meeting on Aug. 23. He succeeds Nancy Mannino in the role.
Cittadino’s appointment is retroactively effective from Aug. 1 to June 30, 2023, after which he may be reappointed by the board. He will receive an annual prorated salary of $72,000, according to district administrators.
Board Vice President John Walsh, who is the head of the board’s Personnel Committee, and Superintendent of Schools Richard Labbe, spoke favorably of Cittadino.
“I had the opportunity to interview Nick and I couldn’t be more pleased with the candidate who we’re recommending to you for the director of food services,” Labbe said. “I think that he is going to be a welcome addition to our food services department.
“I think our cafeteria workers are going to love working with him and I think that [Schools Business Administrator Erin] Hill and I are going to thoroughly enjoy working with him, so we welcome Nick.”
In other business, the board approved a $36,340 deduction from the $100,000 allowance used towards the contract with Preferred Mechanical for HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) upgrades, leaving a balance of $63,570.
The change order, which is a first for the project, is due to material and labor for additional asbestos abatement at the Emma L. Arleth Elementary School and labor and material for an unforeseen removal of a ceiling at the Woodrow Wilson Elementary School, according to district administrators.
Board members also approved an addition of $17,889 to the $50,000 allowance used towards the contract with Burlew Mechanical for mechanical upgrades at district facilities, leaving a balance of $67,889.
The change order, which is a first for the project, is due to owner removal of hp (high-pressure) pump motor and VFDs (variable frequency drive) at Samsel Upper Elementary School and Arleth, according to district administrators.
