Kutztown University, Kutztown, Pa., announced that 306 students will be part of the university’s Honors Program in 2022-23. Freehold residents Christina Hoff and Samantha Mikos will participate in the program. The program provides high-achieving students with opportunities to engage in scholarship, leadership and service. Honors students select specially designed honors courses, course-by-contracts, independent studies and internships to earn honors credit. Students are required to complete 30 hours of community service before graduation. In addition, Christina is a member of the 2022 Kutztown University Marching Unit, which entertains fans at all home football games, select away games, marching band festivals and competitions, professional sporting events, parades and campus spirit building activities.

The University of Rhode Island, Kingston, R.I., celebrated more than 4,000 of its newest alumni during the university’s 136th Commencement. Close to 3,600 undergraduate degrees and more than 800 graduate degrees were conveyed to students during ceremonies which took place from May 20-22, 2022. The following area residents earned a degree: Samantha Ashenberg of Manalapan, Michael Ryan Nortwich of Marlboro, Justin Kleeger of Marlboro and Devin Alexandra Lehrer of Morganville.

Ahmad Dixon of Freehold is a member of the 2022 Kutztown University, Kutztown, Pa., football team. Dixon is a freshman running back for the Golden Bears. He is a graduate of the Hun School of Princeton.

Southern New Hampshire University, Manchester, N.H., has named the following students to the Summer 2022 dean’s list (minimum 3.5 GPA): Dominique Wisniewski of Englishtown, Dominique Toto of Freehold and Jacob Ercolano of Freehold. The summer terms run from May to August.

Emily Saporita of Freehold is one of 120 students participating with the Lebanon Valley College, Annville, Pa., Pride of The Valley Marching Band this year. Emily, a graduate of Freehold Township High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in music and music education. The marching band performs at all home football games and at various exhibitions during the fall semester. The Pride of the Valley will travel to London in December to march in London’s New Year’s Day parade.
