New Brunswick man charged in alleged fatal stabbing of Edison man

NEW BRUNSWICK – A New Brunswick man has been charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of an Edison man on Throop Avenue, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Director Anthony A. Caputo of the New Brunswick Police Department.

Rahmaad Howard, 34, was charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, according to a press release through the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.

Authorities responded to the area of Throop Avenue and Townsend Street following the report of a stabbing at approximately 6:29 a.m. on Sept. 12. Upon their arrival, officers located Barry James, 36, of Edison, who sustained multiple stab wounds. James succumbed
to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at a local hospital, according to the press release.

Police said Howard knew Barry and the incident was not a random act of violence.
