They were apprehended after an extensive investigation into the incident, police said. A 22-year-old Lawrence Township man has already been charged with aggravated assault, assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in the incident that occurred on Aug. 24.

The victim told police that he was walking on the trail around 9 a.m. when he was allegedly shot at by an unknown person. The incident took place on the trail adjacent to the footbridge that connects the trail system over Brunswick Pike, north of Bakers Basin Road, police said.

Police officers who responded to the scene heard the sound of gunfire from the same wooded area. Multiple spent .22-caliber shell casings were found during the initial investigation, police said.
