Lawrence school district hires new assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction

The Lawrence Township Public Schools Board of Education has appointed a new assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction.

Rajneet Goomer, who will earn an annual salary of $175,000, was appointed at the school board’s Aug. 31 meeting. She started work in her new post Sept. 19.

Goomer replaces Andrew Zuckerman, who resigned last month to become the superintendent of schools in the Northern Burlington County Regional School District.

She was most recently the director of student services in the Robbinsville Public Schools, and is a DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) specialist, said Superintendent of Schools Ross Kasun.

Goomer began her career in the South Brunswick School District as a speech-language specialist, officials said.

“Goomer has several years of central office (administration) experience and brings a wealth of expertise and experience from other high-performing districts,” Kasun said.

“She is passionate about being able to do the groundwork that makes our strategic plan a reality. She has had great success in fostering systematic, districtwide approaches to enhance student achievement, wellness and equity,” he said.

Goomer earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in speech-language from The College of New Jersey. She also holds a diversity and inclusion certificate from Cornell University.
