ABERDEEN – On Sept. 24, residents and visitors across the township gathered at Matawan Regional High School (MRHS) to celebrate the 12th annual Aberdeen Day.

The town-wide celebration featured activities for all age ranges and a diverse lineup of food vendors and small business booths. Pizza and pie eating contests were center stage as competitors battled for different prizes and awards.

Inside the gym of MRHS, sports fans had the opportunity to receive autographs from Matawan alum and Super Bowl Champion Jim Jeffcoat, former Yankee players Jeffrey Nelson and Roy White, and 11-year MLB veteran Mitch “Wild Thing” Williams. Representatives from the township’s council, school board, and environmental board were also in attendance to speak with members of the community.

The event saw a sizeable turnout as families and friends enjoyed an open space full of attractions, bouncy houses, tour-able emergency vehicles, and endless servings of popcorn and cotton candy.
