Freehold Township continues to participate in shared service agreements

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP — The members of the Township Committee in Freehold Township have entered into numerous shared services agreements with nearby municipalities.

• With Freehold Borough, Freehold Township will provide Schibanoff Road commuter parking lot permits to Freehold Borough residents; licensed treatment plant operational services for Freehold Borough’s water and sewer utilities; information technology services; code enforcement, building inspection and plan review services; health services; and substance abuse prevention and counseling services;

• With Manalapan, Freehold Township will provide information technology services;

• With Farmingdale, Freehold Township will provide licensed operational services for Famingdale’s water and sewer utilities;

• With Keyport, Freehold Township will provide information technology services;

• With Bay Head, Freehold Township will provide information technology services;

• With Atlantic Highlands, Freehold Township will provide information technology services;

• With Sea Girt, Freehold Township will provide information technology services;

• With Spring Lake, Freehold Township will provide information technology services;

• With Howell, Freehold Township will provide licensed operational services for Howell’s water and sewer utilities;

• With Wall Township, Freehold Township will provide health services.

Committee members authorized an agreement with the Manasquan River Regional Sewerage Authority for automotive services; licensed operational services for the authority’s sewer utilities; and vehicle refueling.

Municipal officials authorized shared services agreements with the Freehold First Aid and Emergency Squad for automotive services and vehicle refueling. The first aid squad serves Freehold Borough and Freehold Township.

Committee members authorized an agreement with the Visiting Nurse Association Health Group for health services.

In other business, the committee authorized the execution of a shared services agreement for regional animal control with Manalapan, Millstone Township and Freehold Borough. Manalapan will serve as the lead agency for the regional animal control, according to the resolution.

Finally, committee members authorized shared services agreements with the Freehold Township Fire District No. 1 Board of Fire Commissioners and the Freehold Township Fire District No. 2 Board of Fire Commissioners for vehicle refueling and for the hiring of four part-time fire prevention training specialists.

According to a resolution regarding the fire prevention training specialists, the fire commissioners from the two fire districts agreed to pay $8,333 toward the base salary of $15 per hour for each employee to serve as fire prevention training specialists during 2021. The funds may also be used to obtain training materials.

The resolution states that the fire commissioners recognized a need for education in the area of fire prevention and that combining funds would enable them to educate seniors and young people in the area of fire prevention.
