An early morning fire damaged a Rolling Hill Road home Feb. 23, according to the Montgomery Township Police Department.
The fire was reported at 3:47 a.m., police said. When police officers arrived to investigate, they discovered flames showing through the roof. They forcibly opened the front door to search for residents, but they were forced back by heavy smoke and flames.
The house, which was determined to be vacant, suffered heavy fire damage to the second floor and the roof, police said.
Montgomery Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1, Montgomery Volunteer Fire Co. No. 2 and the Rocky Hill Fire Department attacked the fire, police said.
A request was made for additional fire departments to help fight the fire, which included Hillsborough Fire Co. No. 1, Hillsborough Fire Co. No. 3 and the Princeton Fire Department, police said. Montgomery EMS (emergency medical services) was also on hand.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Montgomery Township Police Department and Montgomery Township fire inspectors.
