Bordentown Regional High School seniors mark next chapter
Bordentown Regional High School Class of 2023 turned their tassels marking their next chapter during the annual graduation ceremony on their athletic field June 20.
Before the class received their diplomas, the class heard from Salutatorian Sucheth Mididoddi and Valedictorian Kush Gandhi.
“Class of 2023, we did it, it’s over, the memories that we made along the way will exist for an eternity,” Gandhi said.
“… In actuality, the feeling of graduation is like the feeling of opening a letter or at least a really important one like a college admission decision or job offer,” he said. “It’s the daunting feeling of the unexpected, the unexplored, the inexperienced, the fear of not knowing what’s to come, but still instilling the path forth.”
They prepared their whole lives for the graduation moment.
“Our journeys are our letters of our own lives in which we are in control of the narrative written,” he said. “We have been given all that we need, protection, guidance and a path. Whether we realize it or not, it’s time to chase our dreams free from restriction, it’s time to exercise our good will and change the lives of everyday individuals and it’s time to leave our mark on society and navigate our lives ahead.”
Superintendent of Schools Trudy Atkins broke out in a bit of Broadway’s Seasons of Love song during her speech to the Class of 2023.
“Your next ‘five hundred, twenty-five thousand, six hundred minutes’ consisting of employed, enrolled and enlisted in a new city, state, or country, regardless of what path you choose or must take, the people you meet along the way must influence what you become,” she said. “These individuals may be powerful forces in your lives.
“If they are positive, I urge you to stick with them and learn all you can. If at some point they turn negative, remove yourselves from that situation. That will not benefit your growth, it’s ok to cut your losses and move on. You will be OK even though you may not think so.”
