Officer Gerard Sinnott has joined the ranks of the Pennington Police Department.

Mayor Jim Davy introduced Sinnott to Borough Council and Pennington residents on April 1 prior to his swearing in as the newest officer of the police department.

Borough Attorney Walter Bliss administered the oath of office.

“I appreciate you guys putting your faith in me in hiring me as a police officer,” Sinnott said. “It has been a dream of mine.”

Davy noted that Sinnott hails from Toms River where he attended Toms River High School East and graduated in 2012.

“He then continued his education at Ocean County Community College where he received an associate degree in criminal justice,” the mayor said.

Sinnott started his police career in Stone Harbor in 2020 as a Class I officer. After completing the Ocean County Police Academy, he went on to serve as a Seaside Park special law enforcement Class II officer.

“Mr. Sinnott also served as a full-time Class II officer for Island Heights Police Department for two years before joining the Pennington Police Department. Officer Sinnott joins our police department as a full-time Class II officer,” Davy added.

“He is scheduled to attend the Monmouth County Police Academy in April via its waiver program. This four-week program will allow Officer Sinnott with a full police training commission certification.”

For the Pennington Police Department, it is anticipated that Sinnott will be assigned full patrol duties by the end of June.

“We welcome Officer Gerard Sinnott to the Pennington Borough Police Department,” Davy said.
