FREEHOLD — Several St. Patrick’s Day and Easter parades and various entertainment events are set to take place at various venues in Monmouth County during March.

“Start the month with shamrocks and end with egg hunts,” said Freeholder Director Thomas A. Arnone in a press release.

“March is the month to celebrate the end of winter by getting outside, and with two holidays happening this month, there are plenty of great events to choose from,” he said.

Enjoy St. Patrick’s Day parades in Asbury Park and Rumson on March 13 and in Highlands March 19.

If you are looking for more ways to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, visit Historic Allaire Village in Farmingdale on March 13 to celebrate the day in 1830s style or listen to the story of Irish independence through music, song, dance and storytelling at “Celtic Nights: Spirit of Freedom” on March 16 at Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank.

Count Basie Theatre will also host various concerts and shows, including “PFX: The Pink Floyd Experience” March 10, “Summer of Love Concert” March 11, New Jersey Symphony Orchestra’s “All Mozart” March 12, Sophia Loren March 17, Patti LuPone March 18, “Million Dollar Quartet” musical with two shows on March 19 and comedian David Cross March 23.

Ocean Grove’s “Chocolate Lover’s Weekend” has been rescheduled for March 11-13.
Participants can hunt for hearts, take a tour of famous inns, embark on a winter
walk and enjoy special dinners at participating Ocean Grove restaurants.

Belmar will host a restaurant tour from 12-4:30 p.m. March 13. Sample the
fine cuisine of local restaurants.

Other events include Algonquin Arts Theatre’s presentation of “10 Hairy Legs” March 11 and “World’s Best Short Films” on March 12 in Manasquan. iPlay America in Freehold will host Nick Carter on March 11 and pop artist Daya March 20. Pollak Theatre at Monmouth University will present “Charlotte’s Web” March 22 and “Spartacus” on March 31.

“March 20 marks the first day of spring,” said Freeholder Deputy Director Serena
DiMaso. “Join the Monmouth County Park System for a nature walk at 10 a.m. at the Manasquan Reservoir to look for signs of the new season.”

While St. Patrick’s Day activities dominate the first half of March, Easter takes the
second half with various festive events such as Historic Allaire Village’s Easter Egg Hunt from 12-4 p.m. March 26. Enter the Handmade Bonnet Contest and enjoy the parade. At 6 a.m. March 27, Historic Allaire Village will host an Easter Sunrise Service.

In Asbury Park, an Easter Parade will kick off at 1 p.m. March 27 from the
Paramount Theatre.
