Celebrate Black History Month with the Woodbridge Public Library February 17 at 7PM! Learn genealogy’s significance with a brief review of how to get started with your own ancestry from Gene Armstead of the New Jersey Chapter of the Afro American Historical & Genealogical Society Inc. We’ll also discuss some methods to get past those dreaded brick walls and what DNA is and how to use it in your search.

Eugene “Gene” Armstead, Jr. is the immediate Past President of the African American Historical and Genealogical Society, New Jersey Chapter- (AAHGS NJC). He currently serves the Society as Chair of the Chapter’s Committee. He has been researching his genealogy since 1998. Mr. Armstead lectures extensively around the state mostly at libraries and Churches. He proposes ways to begin the investigation into one’s family roots.
