Join us at WheatonArts on November 9 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. as we celebrate our current exhibition, Emanation 2019! The afternoon will be filled with hands-on activities that encourage creative learning, artist demonstrations of how the artworks were made in our Glass Studio, informal gallery talks by the curator and exhibiting artists, and a return performance of “Phantom Frequencies” by Martha McDonald and Laura Baird. See the full schedule for this unique celebration on our website at wheatonarts.org.

“Phantom Frequencies” features glass instruments created in the WheatonArts Glass Studio that were inspired by the historic glass objects in the Museum of American Glass collection. The performance explores the myriad ways glass can speak in a dialogue between the ghosts of WheatonArts past and the glass of some imagined future. The “Phantom Frequencies” photo used here is by Ryan Collerd.

Emanation 2019, curated by Julie Courtney, is on display through December 31, 2019 in the Museum of American Glass at WheatonArts. Emanation 2019 is the third exhibition of contemporary art featuring new works developed and created by artists invited to utilize the resources and facilities at WheatonArts for experiment based exploration. The results are displayed with an emphasis on each artist’s creative process. Artists participating in the exhibit are Jesse Krimes, Tristin Lowe, Martha McDonald and Laura Baird, Karyn Olivier, Richard Torchia, Allan Wexler, and Jo Yarrington. Open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is included with general admission to WheatonArts.
