“The Culture of Fashion in Italy — Women, Film, and the Media” will be the topic of a lecture by Professor Eugenia Paulicelli at Dorothea’s House on Sunday, March 1, at 5 p.m.

Professor Paulicelli will talk about the crucial role women have played and still play in shaping Italian style and fashion made in Italy. A professor of Italian, comparative literature, and women’s studies at Queens College and the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, she is the founder and coordinator of fashion studies in the master of arts in liberal studies and doctoral concentration at the Graduate Center. The fashion programs she is involved in are the result of her longstanding belief that fashion is an important manifestation of our everyday habits, gestures and performances as well as being an economic and social force.

Dorothea’s House is located at 120 John Street in Princeton. The lecture is free and open to the public. Participants are encouraged to bring refreshments to share at the reception following the program.
