The fifth season of Music at the Museum, a free monthly weekend concert series at the Zimmerli Art Museum, kicks off Sunday, October 20, with two faculty members from Rutgers Community Arts performing: Michelle Grondin Gergich on flute and Leighann Narum, guitar.
The concert coincides with the museum’s “Home is Where…” exhibition, which displays a wide array of interpretations of home.
The concert will focus on chamber music, the most intimate of musical art forms, and a medium in which composers have often turned to express a personal connection to their homeland. Nostalgia, praise, and even heartache resonate through works by composers from a variety of eras.
The discussion begins at 1:30 p.m.; concert, 2 p.m., and tour of the related exhibit, 3 p.m.
