Successful, viable urban centers are core to our larger
community’s success. As our Capital City, Trenton has a range
of assets that are often overlooked in the face of its challenges.
For the past forty years Isles, a local community development
nonprofit, has been working with City residents and families to
pursue positive change that draws on what local people have
to contribute. From supporting disengaged youth to qualify for
work in the green economy, to interrupting the cycle of violent
crime and making homes lead-safe and energy-efficient, Isles
works to find innovative solutions to complex local issues.
Matt Wasserman (right, top) is an Innovation & Sustainability
Executive with thirty years of corporate, non-profit, and
entrepreneurial experience. He is a strong social and
environmental advocate, sits on numerous non-profit Boards,
including Isles, and cofounded Sustainable Princeton,
developing one of the first sustainability-focused action plans in
NJ. Matt is a certified Climate Change Professional and recently
cofounded Community FoodCycle, a company working to
provide mobile, no-fuss food waste solutions for municipalities.
Sean Jackson (right, bottom) became Isles CEO in October 2020
after having served as a board member and consultant to the
organization. Sean has extensive experience in public policy,
law, and real estate development. He previously served as State
Director for U.S. Senator Bob Torricelli before transitioning to the
private sector as Sr. Vice President of Rosemont Associates, a
public policy consulting and real estate development firm.
