Join Ruth Ochs and the Westminster Community Orchestra for this annual fun, family-oriented program of sometimes sweet, sometimes slightly scary, music to inspire your Halloween season. The afternoon will also feature new works by Westminster composers and collaborations with Westminster Conservatory violin and guitar students led by faculty Urška Haule Feguš and Mark Johnstone. Children are welcome to attend in costume, and small treats will be provided. Tickets are $15/10 and are available online at www.rider.edu/arts or by calling the box office, 609-921-2663.
The concert program includes Bach’s Passacaglia and Fugue in C Minor (arranged by Stokowski), Khachaturian‘s “Waltz” from Masquerade Suite, “Father of Waters” and “Huckleberry Finn” from Ferde Grofe’s Mississippi Suite, and the overture to Strauss’s Die Fledermaus. The world premiere performances of Timothy Morrow’s Paul Bunyan Overture, Kathleen Scheide’s Perpetuum mobile for Guitars and Orchestra, Carmen Mateiescu’s Halloween Parade, and a movement from Ipavec’s Serenade for Strings round out the program.
