On Sunday June 27, 2021 from 8:30 AM until 2:30 PM, New Jersey Blood Services will hold a blood drive at the Metuchen YMCA, 65 High Street. Everyone, 17 years old and over, is strongly encouraged to donate. To make an appointment, register at http://www.nybc.org/njdrive. Enter sponsor code 15750. Then click on “Schedule” on the June 27 drive on the bottom of the page.
Currently there is an urgent need for healthy blood donors as the supply of blood has dropped to critically low levels due to the pandemic, with NY Blood Center/NJ Blood Services reporting that hundreds of blood drives had to be cancelled. Also, because of COVID19, no high school or college drives were held, thus limiting the number of new donors. And there are also over 100,000 blood donors who still have not returned to donate since before the pandemic began.
Giving blood is safe. There are stringent health precautions in place. Please donate if you can.
