The Raritan Valley Symphonic Band under the direction of Mr. John Hylkema proudly presents its annual children’s concert “Meet The Band!” on Sunday, February 12 at 2 PM. The free concert will be held at Bridgewater-Raritan High School, 600 Garretson Road, Bridgewater.
This year’s concert highlights each section that makes up the band. The performance will begin and end with the full band, but in the middle, audience members will “Meet The Band” by hearing each section play their own featured piece! Before each section performance, we will have instrument demonstrations by our esteemed RVSB members, so that our aspiring band students in attendance can hear not only how their favorite instruments sound, but a little bit about those instruments.
This year’s program includes the full ensemble performing the popular Sousa march “The Black Horse Troop” and musical favorites from “Avengers” and “Encanto”. Small ensemble pieces include music from private eye series “Peter Gunn”, “Raiders of the Lost Ark”, “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy”, “Clarinet Polka”, The Little Mermaid’s “Under the Sea” and more!
This program will delight adults and children alike! We hope you can join us for this special performance!
RVSB comprises about 65 musicians from the northern and central New Jersey area. Band membership includes professional musicians and music educators, as well as amateur musicians ranging in age from high school through retirees.
As always, admission to the concert is FREE. Please note that masks are optional at this performance.
