SOUTH BRUNSWICK – Police officers who were in the right place at the right time were able to capture burglars at a Route 130 business on March 10.
The owner of the Gulf gas station at 2043 Route 130 received an alert on his phone just after midnight that his gas station was being broken into and he called police, according to a statement provided by the South Brunswick Police Department. The owner could see live video of the suspects on his phone, police said.
Officer Robert Rask and Officer Jamal Benbow were nearby when the call came in and allegedly arrived soon thereafter to see the suspects loading their vehicle with the stolen items, police said.
The officers reportedly recovered cash, cigarettes, oil and a surveillance system that were stolen, the statement said. Police also allegedly found marijuana on the suspects.
Nicholas Ragoo, 23, and Sukhpreet Singhage, 23, both of Queens, New York, were charged with burglary, theft, criminal mischief and possession of under 50 grams of marijuana. They were both lodged at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center in North Brunswick on $10,000 bail.
A third suspect, Preet Bajwa, 19 of, Queens, was charged with possession of marijuana and was released on a summons.
“The suspects were only seconds away from fleeing the scene when the officers arrived. The officers were able to recover all the business owners merchandise and arrest three people. This is excellent police work,” Police Chief Raymond Hayducka said.
