Early Saturday morning, a serious fight broke out on James Avenue in South Brunswick, leading to a stabbing that left one man badly injured.

It all started around 1:19 a.m. when the police got a 911 call about a dispute between two men. When officers arrived, they found one of the men with several stab wounds.

The injured man was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he’s now in stable condition. Meanwhile, the other man involved, 24-year-old Dante Wright from Edison, remained at the scene when police arrived. As a result, Wright was quickly arrested by the officers.

According to the police, Wright and the victim knew each other, though they hadn’t shared what the argument was about.

During the fight, Wright allegedly used a pocket knife to stab the other man several times.

Because of this, Wright is now facing several serious charges, including attempted murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and aggravated assault.

He’s currently being held at the Middlesex County Correction Center while waiting for a detention hearing.

The police are still investigating the details of what happened, according to South Brunswick Police Chief Raymond Hayducka.

To aid in the investigation, they’re asking anyone with more information to contact Detective Sergeant Timothy Hoover at (732) 329-4000, extension 7496.
