Firehouse ladies auxiliary sells Mother’s Day flowers 
May 6 and 7 — The Manville North End Volunteer Fire Company No. 3 and Ladies Auxiliary will hold their annual Mother’s Day flower sale of plants for gift giving.
A special sale night will be held on Friday, May 6, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the firehouse at the corner of North 8th Avenue and Louis Street. The sale moves outside to the parking lot in the center of town located on South Main Street and North Arlington Street in Manville on Saturday, May 7, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. 
Neshanic church organizes sale of ‘pre-loved’ clothing 
May 9 to 11 — The Neshanic Reformed Church Christian Nurturing Center, located at 715 Amwell Road, will holding its annual fundraiser over three days. Sale dates are: Monday, 6-9 p.m., Tuesday, 9-2 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. and Wednesday, 9-11 a.m. Most items $1. Cash only. St. Mary’s Catholic Church hosts monthly Slavic meal 
Wed., May 11 — St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church holds its monthly dinner, 4 to 7 p.m., in the St. Mary Parish Center, 1900 Brooks Blvd. $14 for adults (ages 9 and up) and $5 for children (8 and younger). All-you-can-eat pirohi, stuffed cabbage, kielbasa and sauerkraut, mashed potatoes.
Dinners are held on the second Wednesday of every month. Each month a special dish will be prepared by St. Mary’s chef John Pagano. Orders to go available. For information, call 908-725-0615.
The next dinner will be held Wednesday, June 8.
Women-only program helps returnees find work 
Thurs., May 12 — Job-seeking women are invited to a for-women-only program to learn practical job-search strategies and resources from 10 a.m. to noon at Jewish Family Services, 150-A West High St., Somerville. Women can gain support and guidance in coping with job loss or the need to return to the workforce. Meet and share with other women in similar situations.
Funding for the free program is provided by grants from the United Way of Hunterdon County, the Arnold A. Schwartz Foundation, Jewish Women’s Foundation of N.J. and Magyar Bank.

Flea markets open up at Route 260 firehouse 
Sat., May 14 — Flea market will be held twice a month at the Hillsborough Fire Co. No. 2 firehouse on Route 206.
The flea markets are held from 9 a.m. to as long as there are customers. Markets are located on the grass adjacent to the firehouse.
Parking will be on the grass and behind the firehouse. There will be no parking next to the firehouse or in the driveway.
Future markets are May 21, June 4 and 18, July 9 and 23, Aug. 6 and 27, Sept, 10 and 24, and Oct. 8 and 22.

South Branch church to hold bazaar, craft sale 
Sat., May 14 — A “Joy of Spring” bazaar and craft sale will be sponsored by the South Branch Reformed Church from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on River Road. The event will offer crafts, handmade items, home décor, vintage items, new and gently used items, specialty vendors, refreshments and a silent auction. 
Chorus will remember radio songs of yesteryear 
Sun., May 15 — Raritan Valley Chorus will present “Radio Days: Musical Memories of a Golden Era from America’s Hit Parade to Charlie Brown” at 3 p.m. at Hillsborough Reformed Church, 1 Amwell Road, Hillsborough. Songs nostalgic inspired by Bell Telephone Hour, America’s Hit Parade, Fred Waring, Kate Smith, Met Opera broadcasts, Armed Forces Radio, Fireside Chats, Arthur Godfrey and Russ Hodges. All tickets $10. 
Program at library shows how to fight skeeters’ bite 
Thurs., May 19 — Learn how to protect yourself, your family and the community from mosquitoes and ticks in a program from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Manville Public Library, 100 South 10th Ave.
Additional programs will be listed on the Somerset County Department of Health calendar at www.co.somerset.nj.us/health. 
Veterans’ breakfast precedes holiday parade 
Sat., May 28 — Hillsborough veterans, spouses and widows are invited as guests at the annual Salute to Veterans breakfast preceding the township parade at the Municipal Complex on South Branch Road.
Registration before May 23 is required to attend the breakfast. People are asked to register online through the recreation department website or by calling the department at 908-369-4832. Registration forms are also available at the administration office.
Check in for the pre-parade breakfast is at 7:30 a.m. Following the breakfast, guests and visitors can board buses for transport to the start of the parade route. The parade steps off at 10:30 a.m. Veterans will lead the parade. The Garden of Honor Ceremony will take place at the conclusion of the parade. 
Manville library hosts ‘Meltdown’ series concert 
Sat., May 28 — Manville Meltdown concert series presents Tweed and the Sugardaddies from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Manville library, 100 South 10th Avenue. It’s outside, if the weather’s nice, and inside it it’s not. This band provides original material, but also cover a diverse set of artists. Major influences include Gene Vincent, Buddy Holly, Elvis, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan. Call 908-722-9722 for information or to save a seat. 
Business group to host networking night 
Wed., June 1 — The Hillsborough Economic & Business Development Commission will host an evening networking event in the Farmhouse Banquet Room of “The Landing“ on Amwell Road from 6 to 8 p.m.
The cost is $10. There will be food and soft drinks provided and a cash bar will be available.

Continuing events 
Community theater — Somerset Valley Players will present “Boeing Boeing,“ a comedic farce of the swinging ‘60s, on weekends from June 3 to 19 at their theater on Amwell Road.
Tickets are $20 for adults and $18 for senior citizens and students. For information, call 908-369-7469.
Cleanup tickets available — Coupons for access to drop off items at the Auten Road DPW facility and Senior Citizen stickers for curbside pickup are available at the Hillsborough Township Department of Public Works office, 21 East Mountain Road, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday The coupons are distributed on a first come, first serve basis.
This program is for Hillsborough residents only; proof of residency is required. The drop-off site across from the Auten Road Intermediate School is open rain or shine on the specified dates.
VFW meetings: Monthly meetings of Hillsborough VFW Post 8371 are held on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. in the county nutrition center, 339 South Branch Road. The post’s mission is to honor and help other veterans. All veterans with foreign service are welcome. For information about activities, contact Ron Miller at 908-369-5195.
Coping with addiction — Parents of Addicted Children helps parents understand and cope with drug problems they are facing, and will face, with their children. Meets first and third Monday of month, 6:30-7:30 p.m., at Neshanic Reformed Church, 715 Amwell Road.
Alzheimer’s support group — The Alzheimer’s Association has a support group in Hillsborough. Family members and caregivers come together to share information and support in a safe, confidential atmosphere.
Meetings are the third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at Brookdale Hillsborough, 600 Auten Road. Call 908-431-1300.
Mothers of Preschoolers — MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) meets from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Fridays at the Fellowship Bible Church building, 109 New Amwell Road. The group says it meets to “laugh, cry and embrace the journey of motherhood.” Sponsored by Crossroads Community Church, it hears speakers, has a craft or project and lots of conversation and refreshment. Divorce support group — A nondenominational support group to help separated and divorced people to a new beginning. The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of the month from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Hillsborough Presbyterian Church, Route 206 at Homestead Road. Call 908-295-6740. 
