Commuter bus transportation

OurBus, Inc. has established a new express bus service between South Brunswick/Franklin Township and Midtown Manhattan. This is the company’s pilot program.

OurBus allows commuters to create their own point-to-point, demand-based bus routes that pick up near their homes and drop off close to their workplaces.

Once commuters create a route, OurBus connects them with charter companies that have Department of Transportation numbers, FMCSA registration, proper insurance and authority to carry passengers.

The coaches have amenities such as Wi-Fi, charging stations, onboard restrooms and reclining seats.

Fares are almost half the cost of other options available. Since routes are direct, riders save more money by not having to pay for parking permits and multiple transfers, according to a statement prepared by the company.

By working with charter companies with excess capacity and using the buses for other routes such as airport shuttles or urban routes off-hours, OurBus is able to keep costs down for commuters, according to the statement.

Co-founder Mike Virdi, a longtime commuter, was inspired to start the business in order to make life easier for his mother, whose commute has only become more difficult and time-consuming over the years. Fellow co-founder Narinder Singh comes from a transportation logistics and business background.

Interested commuters can sign up for OurBus and purchase tickets at www.OurBus.com.
