At approximately 9:50 a.m. this morning, South Brunswick police, fire and EMS responded to Route 1 south near Deerpark Drive for a gas main break.
Officers quickly assisted local businesses and a nearby assisted living center with evacuations, according to a statement prepared by the South Brunswick Police Department.
PSE&G responded to the scene and has stopped the leak. Repairs are now mainly focused in the area of Deerpark Drive, police said.
Both the north and south lanes of Route 1 are open at this time.
