SOUTH BRUNSWICK – Police have filed several motor vehicle charges related to the November crash that claimed the life of a 29-year-old from Georgia.
An investigation by the South Brunswick Police Department Traffic Safety Bureau in coordination with the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office determined that around 9:22 p.m. on Nov. 8, a 2005 Volvo tractor trailer, driven by Nohemi Farfan, 45, of Baytown, Texas, was headed northbound on Route 1. She reportedly failed to stop at a red traffic signal, swerved and struck a 2016 Ford Transit Connect that was crossing over Route 1 at Raymond Road, according to information provided by the South Brunswick Police Department.
The driver of the Ford, John Jermill Williams, 29, of Hampton, Georgia, was killed in the crash. A front seat passenger in the Ford, a 17-year-old male from Philadelphia, recovered from his injuries suffered and was released from an area hospital after two weeks of treatment, according to police.
Police have charged Farfan with reckless driving, careless driving, failure to observe traffic control device and unsafe lane change. The motor vehicle offenses carry a maximum penalty of 60 days in jail and the potential for a license suspension, according to police.
The lead investigator in the case was South Brunswick Police Traffic Safety Officer Jesse Blake.
