Proposal considers widening Route 1 during rush hours

The New Jersey Department of Transportation (DOT) and South Brunswick Township officials will hold a Public Information Center meeting to discuss a pilot program to expand the travel lanes of Route 1 from Raymond Road to Independence Way during rush hours.

The meeting will be held from 4-7 p.m. on May 15 at the South Brunswick Municipal Building, 540 Ridge Road, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick.

Under the pilot study program, the highway would expand from four to six lanes of travel from 6-9 a.m. and then again from 4-6 p.m. on weekdays.

The public is invited to attend the meeting to examine the proposal developed for this project.

Representatives from DOT will be on hand to answer any questions.
