North Brunswick found man guilty of harassing teenage boy

NORTH BRUNSWICK – A township resident was convicted of harassing a teenage boy in the bathroom of a local restaurant in South Brunswick last year.

George Daymond Shirley, 49, of North Brunswick, was convicted by a jury on July 10 of harassment while he was on parole or probation, a 4th degree criminal offense, according to information provided by Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey.

During the trial, Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor Thomas Carver presented evidence and testimony showing that in November, the defendant followed a teenage boy into the bathroom of a local restaurant in South Brunswick and made inappropriate comments to him, according to the statement.

The investigation was conducted by Police Officer Joseph Diprossimo, Detective Michael Pellino and Sgt. Tara Jairdullo of the South Brunswick Police Department.

Shirley faces a prison term of up to 18 months when he is sentenced in New Brunswick on Oct. 13 by Superior Court Judge Benjamin Bucca.
