Case worker charged with sexual assault of a minor

SOUTH BRUNSWICK – A 23-year-old case manager has been charged with multiple criminal counts in the sexual assault of a child under the age of 16.

Miguel Garrido, 23, of the Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick, was charged on Nov. 17 with one count of aggravated sexual assault in the first degree, one count of sexual assault in the second degree, one count of aggravated criminal sexual contact in the third degree, one count of criminal sexual contact in the fourth degree, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child in the third degree, one count for the sexual assault and the second count for the use of marijuana with the victim, according to information provided by Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Chief Stephen Rizco of the Highland Park Police Department.

Garrido was a case worker with Coordinated Family Care in North Brunswick, a private, non-profit care management organization providing assistance to youths and their families in Middlesex County, according to the statement.

During the investigation it was determined that sexual assault allegedly took place at the victim’s residence. Garrido was acting as a case worker for the victim, police said.
