Deceased person found by Amtrak police

SOUTH BRUNSWICK – South Brunswick police received a call from Amtrak police around 4:23 p.m. on May 11 that a train had struck a person on the tracks.

Officers located a deceased person near the Plainsboro border, according to information provided by South Brunswick Police Captain James Ryan. She was later identified as Cherylyn Alderfer, 24, of New Hope, Pennsylvania, according to Jason Abrams of Amtrak Corporate Communications.

The cause is under investigation, Abrams said.
