East Windsor resident injured in Cranbury accident

A 60-year-old man was in critical condition after his sedan hit and became wedged under a semi tractor-trailer Volvo truck on Oct. 15 at Route 130 north and South Main Street, Cranbury, authorities said.

Ralph Jameson, of East Windsor, had to be airlifted to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, Trenton, Cranbury police said. As of Oct. 16, he remained in critical condition, hospital spokeswoman Kate Stier said.

Jameson was the driver and lone occupant of a Hyundai Elantra traveling about 7:50 a.m. when the car hit the side of the truck, “traveled under the trailer and became wedged,” Police Chief Rickey A. Varga said in a statement. First responders managed to extricate him, the chief said.

Varga said preliminary findings determined the tractor-trailer “failed to stop or yield while crossing over Route 130 to the northbound Hyundai” that Jameson was driving. Richard Kyle, 67, of Somerset, the truck driver, was not hurt, the chief said.

“The investigation continues at this time,” Varga said.
