Hillsborough Democratic Alliance is set to hold climate discussion

The Hillsborough Democratic Alliance is holding a presentation that will update residents on a new federal carbon pricing bill being introduced in Washington, D.C.

According to club officials, the Hillsborough Democratic Alliance is a club dedicated to bringing forth issues to the Hillsborough community.

On May 1, the presentation will take place at Avalon Assisted Living, which is located on 393 Amwell Road in Hillsborough. The event will be from 7-8:30 p.m.

“Hillsborough resident Nadine Kadell Sapirman, Climate Reality presenter and co-leader of the Raritan Valley Citizens Climate Lobby Chapter, will present an update on the newly-introduced federal carbon pricing legislation: the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act,” said Steve Pick, President of the Hillsborough Democratic Alliance.

This bill imposes a fee on the carbon content of fuels, including crude oil, natural gas, coal or any other product derived from those fuels that will be used so as to emit greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, according to the legislation.

Local congressional representative Tom Malinowski, who represents Hillsborough Township is a co-sponsor of this bill called HR763, according to officials.

“There will be time for questions and a discussion about climate change, climate policy and local actionable environmental issues,” Pick said.

All are welcome to attend.
