Cranbury Township has a new distinction – it is being regarded as the cutest town in New Jersey.
The distinction is the result of a Purewow article that was published prior to the beginning of summer when the company selected the cutest town in every U.S. state.
“I think this is fantastic. I fully agree 100% with there assessment. I think it is a validation to what I think all Cranbury residents already know,” Cranbury Mayor James Taylor said. “If we look at our town, 40% of our land is preserved farmland or can’t be developed upon due to wetlands.”
He said without the civic organizations in town, which include the Woman’s Club of Cranbury, the Lion’s Club and church groups, the town would not look the way it is today.
“Those volunteers run our parades and beautify our main streets. Everything you see is tangible because of the volunteers in our community,” Taylor said. “What also helps is what our public works guys do. By keeping our parks and streets maintained they help keep Cranbury historic in a community effort.”
PureWow is a digital media company founded in 2010 that caters to women’s lifestyle content, according to its website. The writer of the article, Hannah Loewentheil, stated that they are highlighting towns with plenty of charm and character.
“I hope residents have an appreciation for this recognition. We should be thankful to live in a town like this,” Taylor said. “When you are around something like this you need to appreciate it. It is our number one priority going forward to maintain Cranbury’s feel and look as a town.”
He explained that the township Master Plan has been consistent since its first township mayor and committee, which has helped make certain Cranbury continues to have a small town feel.
