Seniors at Brandywine Living create Dog Days of Summer artwork

Residents of Brandywine Living at Princeton in South Brunswick acknowledged “The Dog Days of Summer” by creating canvas art using paper collage techniques. The “Social & Safe” outdoor art program was inspired by the community’s Artist Palette Signature Program, which allows residents to learn about art while creating a masterpiece. The class was led by local artist Monique Topp. The official “dog days” of summer begin on July 3 and end on Aug. 11. Sirius, the Dog Star, is the brightest star in the sky. The ancient Greeks noticed that in the summer months Sirius rose and set with the Sun. They theorized that it was the bright glowing Dog Star adding extra heat to the Earth in July and August.
