The American College of Orgonomy has rescheduled its free Case Presentation Series webinar, “A Little Dragon and Her Therapist: Longing for Contact,” with Dee Apple, Ph.D. in a discussion with interviewer/host Peter A. Crist, M.D. The new date is Saturday, January 21, 2023 from 4:00 to 5:00PM (EST). During this presentation, you will have the opportunity to submit questions privately using the Q and A function on Zoom. Questions will be addressed during the Q and A portion of the webinar. Please note that as an attendee you will not be seen or heard on screen and you can choose to submit a question anonymously.
Inaya, an eight-year-old girl, was diagnosed with ADHD and various learning disabilities, and while very bright, she was extremely behind her peers and age norms in reading and writing. In addition, she’d received an optometric evaluation in which she evidenced perceptual and visual efficiency problems in focusing, eye movement skills, and in using her eyes together.
Her parents described Inaya as “born intense” and as “having big emotions” as a baby. She did not easily adjust to new routines. Dr. Apple began long-term character analytic psychotherapy in person just as COVID restrictions were lifted. This difficult patient, who had previously seen two therapists with no progress, was successfully engaged, and after over two years, continues her therapeutic relationship with Dr. Apple.
Please join us as we learn more about this young girl’s treatment and how Dr. Apple forged a positive and trusting relationship with Inaya, making slow but consistent progress regarding her presenting problems.
