On Dec. 22, Hillsborough Boy Scout Troop 186 families surprised their volunteer leaders, Alana and Barry Bird, with a plaque and gift to acknowledge and celebrate their 25 years of service to both the troop and the Raritan Valley District. A potluck dinner was attended by current and former Scouts and their families.
The Birds’ sons are long out of the troop, yet the couple continues to give time, energy, and talents to Troop 186. Ms. Bird serves as treasurer of the troop, and Mr. Bird is the current Scoutmaster. Ms. Bird also serves on the Advancement Committee in the Raritan Valley District of Boy Scouts’ Patriots Path Council.
Troop 186 meets every Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Hillsborough Manville Elks, 1500 Brooks Blvd. Questions about the troop may be directed to alanabird@gmail.com.
