Created by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago in 2002, Money Smart Week is a public awareness campaign designed to help consumers better manage their personal finances. This is the first year that the Woodbridge Public Library will be participating in Money Smart Week.
Woodbridge Public Library’s Money Smart Week events kick-off with “Coupon Queen” Georgine Kaczmarek on April 26 at 7 p.m. at the Main Library. Meet Georgine Kaczmarek, of http://georginesaves.com/, and learn money saving tips that anyone can use. She will teach you how use coupons more effectively, how to identify the best deals, and how to get the most out of each dollar you spend.
Kaczmarek has been a professional penny pincher for more than 40 years. Given the moniker “Coupon Queen” by a variety of media outlets, she has offered advice and suggestions for national and local television shows, magazines and news publications.
On April 27 at 7 p.m. at the Main Library, members of The Investor Advocacy Project from Seton Hall University will present “Introduction to Financial Literacy.” This program is designed to be an interactive presentation to assist individuals in learning how to make informed investments. The presentation will cover topics such as the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), the five challenges facing every investor, and how to put a financial plan in place.
The Investor Advocacy Project is a clinical program at Seton Hall University School of Law. In addition to the program’s dedication to investor education, the clinic provides pro bono legal representation to investors with limited income or small dollar claims who have a dispute with an investment professional and are unable to obtain legal counsel. Seton Hall’s Investor Advocacy Project is one of only 17 law schools across the nation to provide such services.
Money Smart Week at the Main Library continues on April 28 at 7 p.m. with “How to Pay for College without Going Broke.” In this presentation Martin Eller, CPA and Certified College Planning Specialist and Education Loan Specialist of College Solutions, will share information and insights on the college planning process.
High school students and parents will learn:
- Why procrastination may cost you thousands of dollars and why everyone should file a FAFSA form.
- Why the least expensive college may not be the most cost effective.
- How to position your student to maximize their success both in and after college.
- How to pay the college bill in the most efficient way possible.
