Historical program set for April 27

The Middlesex Greenway Coalition and the non-profit Edison Greenways Group will sponsor a program on the history of the Pennsylvania Railroad’s Electrification from the “Metuchen Switch” Power Station at 7 p.m. on April 27 at the Metuchen Library, 480 Middlesex Ave. (Route 27), Metuchen.

The event will present speakers William Sheffield of Parsons Brinkerhoff/AMTRAK and Nancy Zerbe of ARCH2. They will talk about the 1920 electrifying of the Pennsylvania Railroad’s corridor between New York and Washington, the local supply source in the Metuchen-Edison area, its modernization in 2015 and trail recommendations and historical markings for the future.
