On Saturday, April 16, an Eagle Scout Court of Honor was held for Brendan Szabo of Hillsborough’s Boy Scout Troop 186 at the Hillsborough/Manville Elks Lodge.
Brendan started in Scouting in first grade as a Cub Scout in Pack 195. An active member of Troop 186 since sixth grade, he earned both required and optional merit badges, held the rank of Senior Patrol Leader, and completed an Eagle Scout project along the way. Brendan has enjoyed High Adventure Scouting activities, including Sea Base marine adventure and Operation Zero winter adventure.
Brendan’s Eagle Scout project involved replacing the old and rotted roof on the trading post at Camp Oak Spring in Somerset. Dozens of Troop 186 Scouts, parents, and family members helped with the project over the course of several weeks late last fall.
A graduating senior from Hillsborough High School, Brendan has also been very involved in theater. He plans to attend Raritan Valley Community College in the fall.
Troop 186 meets on Tuesday evenings at the Hillsborough/Manville Elks on Brooks Boulevard. For information about the troop, contact alanabird@gmail.com.
